Weidmuller Attains UL Certification for Crimped Wire Contacts

weidmuller

RICHMOND, VA (October 27, 2014) - The classic definition of a wire-end ferrule is a tinned copper sleeve, which is placed onto the end of the wire where it is crimped. In other words, wire-end ferrules are used to insert the conductor into the connection or terminal compartment, protecting the fine strands of a multi-stranded wire and providing a gas-tight connection that prevents air or gasses (that lead to corrosion) to permeate. Laboratory tests have proven that the use of ferrules can extend contact lifetime by preventing an increase in resistance and temperature, which can lead to short-circuits and/or failures. Evidence in support of the prolonged contact lifetime, in addition to a more complete list of benefits, can be found in Weidmuller’s white paper entitled, “Ferrules: Your Best Insurance against Costly Connection Failure”.

Compact New DE-STA-CO 8700 Series Pneumatic Lever Clamp is the Right Clamp for Tight Spaces

desstaco

Auburn Hills, Mich. (Oct. 7, 2014) – DE-STA-CO’s new 8700 series pneumatic lever clamp is a lightweight, space-saving alternative to traditional pneumatic toggle and swing clamps, giving fixture builders a reliable option for tight spaces.

“Space is in short supply on complex welding and assembly fixtures,” says Ken Hagan, global product manager for DE-STA-CO. “Although they offer superior holding power, traditional pneumatic toggle clamps are often too large for this type of tooling. Swing clamps are compact, but their rotating design does not work for all applications. That’s why DE-STA-CO developed the 8700 series lever clamp, which provides the best of both worlds.”
