Spika Design & Manufacturing is scheduled to exhibit at The ASSEMBLY Show in Rosemont, IL in October of 2016. The ASSEMBLY Show is a large trade show that brings together suppliers, buyers, and users of assembly equipment in manufacturing plants.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to network with companies in all different industries that want to partner with experts in the work platform industry,” said Bekhi Spika, Director of Marketing for Spika Design & Manufacturing. “Many companies are deciding to outsource the design and manufacture of the work platforms to experts in the industry so they can use their resources for other parts of the assembly project.”

Spika recently completed a project for KUKA Systems Aerospace Group for the design and manufacture of the entire line of work platforms used in a manufacturing line for a high-profile commercial helicopter. Spika supplied KUKA with 30 work platform systems based on 15 different designs. Overall, the project was comprised of over 90 modules.

"The Spika team basically served as an extension of the KUKA team for three years," said Tom Spika, Director of Design & Engineering at Spika. "We brought our expertise to the table to design and manufacture the absolute best work platforms for the application."

The platforms utilized several complex designs, including electrically controlled, dual-stage actuation for significant height adjustability; decks with trap doors to allow the aircraft to pass through the platform when raised or lowered; and work platform sections that could be removed and reattached to larger sections for different configurations during assembly.

“Spika has the production capabilities to take care of volumes, quality control systems in place to put out a good product, and a management team to help us with the designs for different manufacturing facilities,” said Rick Zaitonia, KUKA Project Manager for the program.

Spika’s design and engineering team has years of experience developing upper-level access, fall protection, and support equipment solutions for a variety of industries. All the designs are OSHA-compliant and designed in accordance with the Aluminum Design Manual.

"What's great about Spika is that we have both design and manufacturing under one roof," said Katie Spika, COO of Spika Design & Manufacturing. "If a customer wants to change a design mid-stream, we can apply the change in our model right away and put it through production the next day. There's no delay between design and production."

Spika Design & Manufacturing will be located at booth 1916. To find out more about Spika, go to http://www.spikamfg.com.
